We will be accessing the IRC through the Undernet network.
Use the server washington.dc.us.undernet.org
We are using that particular server so that our AOL subscribers can join us. You can
connect to any Undernet server and reach the channel. If you use this one, it will reduce
lag time. If you have trouble connecting,try a different port number. Try using any port
between 6660 and 6669. (The port setting will be in the software that you use - see
below.)
We will be in a channel (chat room) called: #SaintBernard
If you need IRC software, I recommend "IRCle" for the Macintosh. Do not use the
Mac Program "Homer" since it does not support the Undernet. For ircle goto http://www.xs4all.nl/~ircle.
For PC users, I recommend "mIRC". For mIRC goto http://www.mirc.co.uk
select the closest download site to
you.

I encourage you to view the site and try out the IRC before the set
meeting day.
Like a MIRC, Microsoft Comic Chat http://www.microsoft.com/ie/comichat/
will connect you to washington.dc.us.undernet.org
and you can view the channel (chat room) called: #SaintBernard in "Plain Text"
list mode, but if you view "Comic Strip" mode you talk as a comic strip
character with balloons over you head. This is a fun chat because you can show facial
expressions. People using MIRC will not see this only people using Microsoft Comic Chat. I
like Comic Chat because you can "Filter" the list of rooms, instead of searching
through up to 3500 rooms you can type in a word like DOG or SAINT and only the room with
that in its name will appear on the list.
Their is a room called Pet_Chat but only shows up when some has gone to
the room. I normally make a room called Pet_Chat2 so I can control the room and ban people
if I want.
This software is free and come on a CD to new Microsoft Network (MSN) users.
